Meet Jackie Moss, Happiness Provider
“I wish we didn’t have an International Women’s Day” says Jackie Moss, who founded Giftgowns in 2016 after a rich legal and corporate career. “It’s sad that we need such a day but at the same time I am happy that people turn their mind to women and realise how much of the world goes on because of them.” Jackie lives everyday as if it was IWD – a mentor to many women and an engaged advocate for women’s issues.
By her own admission, Jackie is a lover of fashion – she has way too many dresses and shoes but she can’t help it. It just makes her happy. She is part of the fashion tribe of women who express their appetite for life through their wardrobe – but she is not part of the “brands only” fashion herd. Eclectic is her motto – in her wardrobe, her friends, her interests.
Jackie makes it her business to spread happiness around her. She has fiery red hair, a big smile, an infectious laugh and you can’t help but feel her warmth (almost affection) when she looks at you. Although I had only met her once before, our interview felt more like a conversation between old friends than a business meeting.
Her fashion sense was put to the test a couple of years ago when she found herself in hospital having to wear a drab, itchy, washed out hospital gown – a real morale downer. Do you know that there are 33 million people in North America that have to wear such an ugly garment on a daily basis?
No being one to accept the status quo, there an then, from her hospital bed, she created GiftGowns - humorous, practical and comfortable hospital gowns that make your journey to healing so much easier. They make you feel good and look good, they make you smile, they make the people around you smile. The best of medicine.
And it shows on the photos that her clients send her.
A happy hospital gown is a brilliant gift – and it keeps giving: Jackie donates a portion of her sales to health foundations and hospitals who sell her gowns through their shop.
Spreading happiness is Jackie’s business. What have you done today to share happiness?
